Sonova Audiological Care Australia (Sonova AC AU) has today announced the acquisition of Neurosensory Limited (Neurosensory). The purchase sees Neurosensory join Sonova sister companies, Connect Hearing and Blamey Saunders hears, to collectively offer exceptional expertise and clinical excellence, to empower Australians in their hearing health.

Neurosensory will come under the complete ownership of Sonova AC AU from December 2021, while maintaining its own brand, operations, employees, clients and contracts. Sonova AC AU is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swiss-listed company, Sonova Holding AG. Sonova employs 14,000 employees globally.

In Australia, Sonova AC AU’s dedicated clinicians and team members support the hearing health of Australians through personalised specialist care across its national network of Connect Hearing and Blamey Saunders hears clinics, as well as through its teleaudiology and world-class innovative online tools.

Sound investment strategy delivers better choice for Australian hearing health needs

According to Sonova AC AU Managing Director Michelle Lawson, Neurosensory brings exceptional diagnostic expertise and clinical excellence to the Sonova AC AU family.

“Neurosensory has a rich 40-year history in providing outstanding audiological services. The organisation’s unique, exceptional diagnostic services work hand-in-hand with medical professionals to provide high-quality care to Australians across 24 sites on the Eastern seaboard.

“This acquisition will bring together the collective expertise and excellence of the Sonova and Neurosensory teams; to strategically enhance the design and delivery of clinically-robust solutions for Australian clients and the medical community.

“The new alliance will continue to invest in service development to support clients' hearing health, plus their family members as critical advocates in the health journey, along with ENT and GP Partners,” says Lawson.

Neurosensory further bolsters Sonova AC AU’s diagnostic expertise

Neurosensory was previously a privately-held organisation owned by almost 70 Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist Surgeon (ENT) shareholders. Neurosensory and the strong ENT network will remain firmly aligned; collaboratively delivering services to their patients and the broader medical community. The Neurosensory team, led by Neurosensory CEO Nina Quinn who will stay on as Managing Director as part of the deal, will continue to deliver all services, fulfill contracts and prioritise their clients.

“I am delighted to announce that Neurosensory is joining Sonova Audiological Care Australia. Both organisations share a commitment and passion for client-centric, comprehensive, and innovative hearing healthcare. We are strategically-aligned in our intent to serve and empower our clients while providing an ethical and professional approach to audiological care,” says Quinn.

“Founded by ENTs in Queensland in 1978, Neurosensory’s mission is to enrich people’s lives by improving how they interact with their world. We look forward to working with Sonova to further extend and leverage our specialist audiological services as the newest member of their organisation in Australia,” continues Quinn.

The investment by Sonova AC AU follows the recent acquisition of online service innovator, Blamey Saunders hears.

“Sonova AC AU’s investment strategy is to empower clients to engage with their hearing health. Our focus is to partner with each client’s primary healthcare provider to support their wellness and ability to stay active in their communities for longer,” explains Lawson.

“At the heart of this strategy is a commitment to excellence and innovation. We are passionate about further enhancing an Australian client-empowered business model that is focused on access, clinical and commercial excellence, and telehealth innovation raising the bar for audiological in Australia,” concludes Lawson.
