Anne May
Anne holds a Masters Degree in Audiology. She has worked for 25 years in various roles in Audiology in Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland, developing training materials and advising on software design for fitting hearing devices, as well as clinically. She has had numerous journal articles published and delivered many presentations at professional conference and seminars. Anne enjoys working at the hearing center in Sydney, Campbelltown,” I appreciate the down to earth attitude of the local community.”
Anne’s top hearing tip is “take the time to become well acquainted with your hearing devices and always ask your audiologist when uncertain.”
Charlen Lavoie
Charlen graduated from the University of Ottawa in Canada in 2002. She specialised in Auditory Processing Disorders for the 1st three years of her career in Quebec. Charlen got itchy feet and wanted to widen her experience in audiology so she decided to leave everything behind and travel overseas, first in the UK before settling down a year later in Australia.Charlen enjoys working in Audiology at her hearing center, “there is nothing like being able to make a little difference in someone’s life, it’s very rewarding.”

Diane McMahon
Dianne holds a Certificate in Audiometry and is an OHS (Office of Hearing Services) practitioner. She is a member of the ACAud (Australian College of Audiology). Dianne has a unique understanding of the industry and clinical practice due to her family background. Her Dad and siblings have worked in the hearing healthcare industry for many years. As a student she worked in her father’s hearing clinic as a receptionist and this experience led to further study and a successful clinical career of 13 years.
Dianne has two teenage daughters and lives in the local area. Dianne is passionate about helping people with hearing loss improve the quality of their lives.
Annalea Firkins
Annalea has a background in speech and hearing with over 5 years experience throughout Sydney hearing centres. She enjoys watching the surprised reactions and responses after trying hearing aids – “You sound so clear now!”Annalea really enjoys working in audiology, “I love helping the world to hear, to connect a person to the world through sound is one of the most rewarding occupations around.”
Annalea’s top hearing tip is “Effective listening does not just come from the ears; it involves the eyes (for facial expressions), the lips (for word movement and context), and the body (for body language)”
Lauren McNee
Lauren has completed two degrees at Macquarie University and been with Connect Hearing for a few years. She enjoys continuing to expand her knowledge through training days and conferences. Lauren enjoys what she does at the hearing center in Frenchs Forest, Sydney, “I have the opportunity to help people reconnect with their loved ones and the world around them”.
Lauren loves working within her local community, “having grown up on the North shore I like that I can relate to my community and offer assistance to my clients within their own context”. Lauren’s top hearing tip is,” In a noisy place, always try to put as much noise behind you as possible.”
Lisa Cooke
Lisa has been in the industry since 1994, first working for an ENT and then in hearing aid clinics in Northern Sydney, South West Sydney & rural sites. Lisa is passionate about what she does and she enjoys working in Audiology as, “It’s a very practical way to solve problems for people, whether it be spousal complaints, sense, isolation or being the butt of family jokes because you mishear.”
Lisa enjoys working in the Bathurst community, “The friendliness and the down to earth way of dealing with problems & situations”.

Kit Kirkwood
Kit began as a receptionist with Connect Hearing in Bathurst in 2001. She completed her audiometry studies in October 2008 and has been busy ever since. For Kit the decision to work in Audiology was easy “I loved working in the industry and as I learned more about it, I wanted to know more…so I did the course. Interacting & communicating with people is a pleasure & being able to help people interact & communicate with others is so rewarding”. Kit's top hearing tip is “give eye contact with the person you are speaking to”
Lisa Marshall
Lisa Marshall takes great pleasure working in the Warners Bay hearing center; she has made some firm friends in the community and particularly enjoys popping into the lovely local shops and cafes when not working as an Audiometrist at Connect Hearing. I was already working at Newcastle Hearing Care Centre when Connect Hearing took over two years ago. This was a fantastic opportunity for me as it opened up many doors particularly in training; I soon gained my Office of Hearing Services number and so I am now able to work with pensioners. Connect Hearing also offers a much wider range of hearing aids compared to other hearing services, granting me the chance to work with pioneering technology and the client more variety and choice to pick the most suitable aid.Rossana Devenish-Meares
Rossana’s friendly personality and warm manner has won clients over right from the start. Rossana holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and English Literature, and a post-graduate diploma in Audiology from Macquarie University. She is a longstanding member of the Audiological Society of Australia since she first joined the professional body as a student in 1988.
Rossana’s depth broad industry experience and in-depth knowledge of the latest digital hearing devices has impressed her clients and colleagues. She is passionate about applying her skills to improve the quality of life of her clients.
Maxine Myers
Maxine has been working in Audiology for the past 17 years. She owned her own Audiology practice with Rosemary Kruger for 11 years before joining the Connect Hearing team. She has presented seminars on hearing related issues to both ENT’s and GP’s. Maxine enjoys Audiology as she “enjoys helping clients with hearing loss connect with the sounds of the environment and their loved ones. It is a very rewarding career." Her top hearing tip is to “never underestimate the importance of visual information even when you have a hearing aid.”Michelle Tooch
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Bachelor of Psychology degree and is a qualified Audiometrist. Michelle is also a member of the Australian College of Audiology. One of her proudest moments was when she advised a client to get a telephone with a speaker so she could speak to her sister overseas and hear her for the first time in many years. Michelle is passionate about what she does, “To see the light go on in someone’s eyes when you switch on the hearing aid/s and they can hear you is the most rewarding feeling!” Michelle loves working in the local community, “You always see a friendly face when you are out and about”. Phillip graduated at the end of 2006 and spent the early time of his career working as a clinical educator. Recently in his past role Phillip managed the Macquarie University Audiology Clinic before joining the Connect Hearing team. Phillip loves working in Audiology because of the good mix of working with people and technology and loves working in the Eastwood, Sydney hearing center due to its diversity and proximity of most areas of Sydney. Phillip’s top hearing tip is “Try to always be realistic about what hearing aids can and cannot do, then you can make the most of the technology that best suits you and hopefully avoid disappointment.”Rosemary Spector
Rosemary has worked in Audiology both in South Africa and Australia for the past 23 years. She was first qualified in South Africa where she ran the Audiology department at the Johannesburg Hospital. During this time she was given an award for outstanding service. Since arriving in Australia Rosemary has worked in both the public and private sectors. Together with Maxine Myers they established and ran a very busy and successful private practice for 10 years, before joining the Connect Hearing group in 2008. Rosemary enjoys making a difference in people’s lives. “I enjoy working with people and find it very rewarding to be able to improve people’s quality of life through technology.” Leah Stacpoole
Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics), a Graduate Diploma in Audiology and has been in the industry for 5 years and works from the Connect Hearing Warriewood centre. “I feel I can be most effective in helping people by listening to their needs, combine this with practical strategies, good service and the exciting advances in hearing technology."What is most important to me, is doing whatever I can to help every person who comes into my clinic improve their quality of life with better hearing." Tarryn’s passion for helping people communicate to the best of their abilities inspired her to start her studies in Speech Pathology. Through this, she developed a particular interest in working with people who have hearing difficulties and then went on to complete a Masters degree in Clinical Audiology. Tarryn finds it incredibly rewarding being able to see clients and their family members through successful hearing aid fittings and rehabilitation programs. "Knowing that what we do makes a difference to people’s lives is a very satisfying feeling".
